I want to do this with my hair.
What struck me as I began to study history was how nationalist fervor—inculcated from childhood on by pledges of allegiance, national anthems, flags waving and rhetoric blowing—permeated the educational systems of all countries, including our own. I wonder now how the foreign policies of the United States would look if we wiped out the national boundaries of the world, at least in our minds, and thought of all children everywhere as our own. Then we could never drop an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, or napalm on Vietnam, or wage war anywhere, because wars, especially in our time, are always wars against children, indeed our children. — Howard Zinn, A People’s History of the United States (via apsies)
It has been claimed that Carroll is satirizing philosophical paradoxes and riddles. As a logician he may be poking fun at our need for an answer to every question. In reality it is not a riddle at all, but a pseudo-problem masquerading as a riddle. He believed that most riddles are fallacious because they lead the reader to believe that such events are possible or even answerable.
I like the answer above best. /shrug
(Poe wrote on both is a good answer too though)
Not everyone who struggles with depression cuts. It is a hidden disease that tortures it victims and leaves wounds the eye has no power to see or mind to understand. — (via danslesilence)
I like this. Reminds me of this article I read about Arts and Crafts style houses for my architecture class. People who built these houses often built niche beds beside fireplaces. So awesome.

CNN wants transgender messages! -
People whose gender identity doesn’t match with that assigned to them at birth say they often feel misunderstood and their voices unheard. The CNN documentary “Her Name was Steven” explores these feelings through the story of former city manager Susan Stanton.
If you are transgendered, transsexual or questioning, we want to hear from you. The assignment is simple: Put a message that you would like others to know about you on a sign and take a self-portrait holding it up.
If you would like to remain anonymous, that’s ok. You can keep your name private or leave your face out of the photograph. We look forward to hearing from you.
The deadline is April 9th.
So true…
