Remember how Whole Foods CEO John Mackey is crazy?
He has just announced a new program whereby skinny Whole Foods employees will enjoy bigger discounts at work than their fat colleagues. Nope, not making it up. BMI-based benefits, people. Can we stop shopping there now?
Okay, I was off on Mackey. WAY off. Hand me a dunce cap and I’ll go sit in a corner now.
A lot of companies are inching in this direction and its beyond bullshit. It’s a civil rights violation because A.) the BMI is an utter horseshit measurement of health B.) it ends up being discriminatory because it does not take in to account muscle mass, medical reasons, drug side-effects and other reasons that are not anyone’s business C.) they are limiting perks based on someone’s health. Why don’t they just make the disabled eat in the bathroom and the stutters run “shame laps”. Fuck Whole Foods Fascism.
